MARCH IS COLORECTAL CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

March was officially dedicated National Colorectal Cancer Awareness month in February 2000 by President Clinton. Since then, it has grown to be a rallying point for the colorectal cancer community where patients, survivors, caregivers and advocates join together to spread colorectal cancer awareness by wearing blue, holding fundraising and education events, or just talking to friends and family about screening. The goal is simple, to increase awareness in hopes of increasing early detection.

Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month offers healthcare providers who care for patients with diseases of the colon and rectum an opportunity to educate their community about these diseases and promote awareness of the importance of colorectal cancer screening, prevention, and treatment. We hope these efforts may also provide a window into the profession and inspire others to consider careers in the field of healthcare.
